Overcoming A Hostile Work Environment 4
10 Scriptures For A Hostile Work Environment
5. “… Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave – just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” – Matthew 20:26-28
Application: Look for ways to serve your coworkers by thinking of their needs more and your own less. Provide help with a project, buy someone a cup of coffee, or offer a listening ear or a word of encouragement.
6. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10
Application: Notice the work God puts in front of you today, no matter how insignificant, and do it to the very best of your ability. Write down three ways God can use the small tasks you do to bless someone.
7. “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16
Application: Let your faith in God show through the way you treat people, the peace you operate from even in the midst of chaos, and the confidence you have in Christ. If you need a bit more peace, joy or wisdom, stop and ask God to give it to you. Pray that His power works through you today.
8. “By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.” – Genesis 2:2
Application: Follow God’s example and take a full day each week for Sabbath rest – a time to focus on God and His goodness, and allow Him to refresh you for the next week’s work.
